Importance of " Khareef "
The people of Dhofar rely heavily on this season. During this time, grass and other plants grown in abundance for the benefit of camel and cattle herds, which constitute vital wealth for the people, and pervade their lives especially residents of the mountain area and adjoining plains. With the rapid economic development of Oman after the Renaissance, the Khareef season grew in importance. Tourists come to Dhofar from all over the Sultanate and other gulf countries to enjoy this unique weather.
Where can you go?
Where to go in Dhofar? Under the clouds of fog and mist, you can visit several places such as natural places like mountains, beaches and caves. In addition, you can visit historic places like Al Baleed, City of Sumhuram and Nabi Imran and Nabi Ayoob Tombs. For entertainment you can visit Khareef Salalah Festival. It has many activities such as games and traditional arts.
Location of Dhofar
Dhofar is the largest and most diverse of the Sultanate's regions. It stretches from Al Wusta in the north to Yemen in the south, and from the Arabian Sea in the east to Al Rub'a Al Khali Desert in the west. In this area, that is about two thousands Km sq, monsoon wind come over the Indian Ocean to Dhofar every year from June and continues until the end of September.
